Daily Prayer

Morning & Evening Prayer

Morning and Evening Prayer are part of the Daily Office, the Church’s ancient pattern of prayer through which Christians gather to pray with and for the Church and the world.

These short, spoken services include readings from Scripture, Psalms and time to pray for people and situations on our hearts. They take place on weekdays in the main body of the Church and last around 15 minutes.

The Eucharist / Mass

Sharing in Holy Communion

The Eucharist, also known as the Mass or Holy Communion, lies at the heart of Christian worship. We gather to hear Scripture, pray, and share in bread and wine in remembrance of Jesus Christ and in his presence with us.

Our weekday Masses are short, spoken services lasting around 25 minutes.

Monday: 6.05pm
Tuesday: 8.15am and 1.05pm
Wednesday: 1.05pm
Thursday: 1.05pm in the Norman Crypt Chapel

On Thursdays, you are also welcome to join us for half an hour of silent prayer from 12.30pm before Mass in the Crypt.

Our Sung High Masses with beautiful liturgy and choral music take place on Feast Days in the Christian year at either 1.05pm or 6.05pm.

Sung Mass

Celebrating the great feasts of the Church

St Mary-le-Bow celebrates the principal feasts of the Christian year with Sung or High Mass, bringing together the Eucharist with stunning choral music and organ voluntaries.

These services mark significant moments in the Christian year, including feasts such as Epiphany, Candlemas, Ascension, Trinity, Corpus Christi and All Souls’ Day.

Next Sung Mass: Monday 2nd November 1.05pm for All Souls.

Sung Compline

Close the day in prayer

Compline is the Church’s ancient night prayer, sung at St Mary-le-Bow by candlelight at the close of the working day.

Enjoy a moment of peace as music and ancient prayer fill the church, offering time for reflection and a different way to close the day.
