Baptism, Confirmation & Exploring Faith

Baptism (or Christening) marks a person entry into the Church as a worldwide family of faith. We welcome those who wish to be baptised here, or to have their children baptised or christened at St Mary-le-Bow. Baptisms usually take place in one of our regular services, or on occasion we can arrange for a service on a Saturday or Sunday. As a first step in planning your baptism or christening, please contact us.

Adult Baptism and Confirmation

If you were not baptised as a child, but wish to be baptised as an adult, we would be pleased to help you on this stage of your journey of faith. Baptism as an adult is usually combined with, or soon followed by Confirmation by a Bishop. Confirmation is a Sacrament of Initiation which marks our full membership of the Church, and is usually the means by which we begin to receive Holy Communion, God’s presence with us in bread and wine our nearest foretaste of heaven here on earth. If you would like to explore baptism as an adult or Confirmation, please contact us to arrange a series of conversations with Fr Simon as a means to prepare for baptism and Confirmation

Exploring Faith

If you’re new to the Christian faith, and would like to explore what it means to be a Christian, please get in touch. Fr Simon and other members of the St Mary-le-Bow family are always willing to meet for a coffee and to talk about what it means to be a Christian and to accompany others on their journey of faith. The Christian faith is the most wonderful adventure, and offers so much to our lives today. Please get in touch if you’d like to talk more about faith.
